HISTORY OF KELLIEWATTE

Kelliewatte Estate is better known in Sri Lanka due to its garden mark as " Nadoototem" which in fact should be spelt as Nadoo Totam which is in Tamil."

Estate in the middle" This same plantation in sinhale is referred as "Medawatte", which also has a similar meaning to that stated in Tamil Kelliewatte is situated between Queensberry, Bogahawatte and Dimbula Estate and in the Dimbula district, which is 140 km from Colombo and 62 km from Kandy The main Nawalapitiya / Nuwara-Eliya Government highway runs through the plantation.

The Elevation of the factory is 1280 m above sea level and the highest point of the location is 1585 m and the lowest points is 1189 m and we quote below an extract from the "Ferguson's Ceylon directory published in 1955 by the “Ceylon Observer Press, Lake House Colombo-10-.which states thus”
